About Me
Welcome to We Go with Anuar. I’m Anuar, the founder and local guide behind the site.
This website exists for one simple reason: to help travellers experience Malaysia in a way that feels personal, practical, and well planned. The planning approach behind this site is explained in detail in our Malaysia Travel Guide, which helps first-time visitors understand how the country fits together before choosing destinations.
How My Journey Shaped What I Do Today
I grew up and studied in different parts of Malaysia, which gave me early exposure to how varied the country really is. Different regions move at different speeds, speak differently, and expect different things. That understanding later became essential in how I plan trips today.
After completing my diploma in Economics in 1989, I spent many years working in the service and hospitality industry. I worked on the ground, trained staff, opened new outlets, and eventually moved into management roles in Kuala Lumpur.
In 2008, I entered the tourism industry after seeing too many travellers leave Malaysia disappointed. At the time, most tours were rigid, overpriced, and designed for volume rather than experience. Travellers paid a lot, but rarely felt they were seeing the country properly.
Living and working in the city shaped how I later put together my Kuala Lumpur travel guide, especially in terms of how places connect, how long things really take, and what first-time visitors tend to underestimate. More importantly, those years taught me something travel brochures rarely show: how systems work, how people behave, and how service quality is actually delivered day to day.
So I took a different approach.
Instead of selling fixed packages, I built a private tour model focused on realistic pacing, local knowledge, and flexibility. That early website became one of the first in Malaysia dedicated specifically to private, custom tours, rather than mass-market itineraries.
The early days were tough. There was a moment when I had less than one ringgit to my name. But by staying focused on quality, clear communication, and honest expectations, the business grew steadily through word of mouth and traveller forums.
Within a few years, We Go with Anuar became consistently recognised by travellers on Tripadvisor, including multiple Traveller’s Choice awards, based entirely on real guest experiences.
What This Website Is Really About
Today, We Go with Anuar is more than a tour service. It is also a destination-led travel resource built around how people actually plan trips.
The guides on this site are written to help travellers understand how Malaysia is structured geographically, compare different destinations in Malaysia, and choose places that fit their time, pace, and interests.
- Plan realistic day trips from Kuala Lumpur and travel routes that match real driving times, not brochure estimates
- Plan realistic day trips and travel routes
- Avoid common mistakes that first-time visitors often make
The content reflects the same thinking behind my tours: clear planning, local context, and practical advice, not hype.
My Approach to Travel and Tourism
I believe good travel is respectful, curious, and grounded in reality. That means:
- Supporting local communities where possible
- Avoiding rushed itineraries that look good on paper but feel exhausting in real life
- Being honest about distances, timing, and trade-offs
- Encouraging travellers to understand a place, not just photograph it
Malaysia has a lot to offer, but it rewards travellers who slow down and plan thoughtfully. That’s the experience I aim to help people achieve, whether they travel with me or simply use this site to plan on their own.

Don’t just take my word for it – here’s what some of my clients have said about me:

It also means being transparent about how tours are planned and priced. I explain what’s included, why certain routes or timings are recommended, and where flexibility makes sense, so travellers can make informed decisions rather than feel surprised later.

A Personal Note
Outside of work, I enjoy photography, hiking, camping, and reading about history and culture. These interests naturally influence how I travel and how I design itineraries. I’m always learning, and that curiosity continues to shape the way this site grows.
If you’re planning a trip to Malaysia and want reliable guidance, or you’re exploring the option of private tours in Malaysia and want to understand how they work on the ground, you’re in the right place.
Thanks for being here.
